Olympians from all over the world have to qualify to begin with just to get into the Olympics to begin with, and that in its self is a feat. Just like many sports Professionally especially, if you don't perform well you will loose your opportunity. People live at times there whole lives competing to get into the Olympics and come short.
Highlights of many Olympics are through the Olympians great achievements. Just recently we have witnessed the great feats of some very recognized Olympians like Shaun Whites snowboarding amazing acrobatics on his board to win gold this past Winter Olympics of 2010. Its moments like these that make us all recognize that you don't have to be an Olympian to appreciate the Olympics.  Remember the great Mary Lou Retton, Carl Lewis are but a few of the many Olympians of the past.
